BWI's value proposition includes flexible funding alternatives that meet your unique circumstances in terms of operating budgets, ordinances and legislation, and your strategy with regards to transaction reporting. The following alternatives are offered:
1. Software Purchase
- This funding alternative is only available for the purchase of the RPDSS system software
- This is the acquisition of a perpetual enterprise-wide site license (not a per user license)
- The software is installed on your agency's computer infrastructure
- The site license fee is based upon the size of the jurisdiction being served - it is not a fixed amount quoted the same to all jurisdictions
- The annual support and maintenance fee for the software is based upon a percentage of the site license cost and is not mandatory
- The site license cost may be spread out over 5 years
2. Annual Subscription for the Hosted Service
- This turnkey solution can be offered to all police agencies regardless of size or budget
- This funding alternative is only available for the hosted service
- As a shared system, we are able to offer subscription rates that are affordable for all law enforcement agencies regardless of size! We pass on the economies of scale realized in a shared environment
- The annual fixed fee to subscribe to the service is based upon the size of jurisdiction served (in terms of the number of reporting shops and the volume of transactions reported).
- There is no fee for setup or training, either to the shops or the police.
- You own the data! The data reported in a hosted arrangement remains the property of the police and, although saved on a hosted server, a copy of your data will be provided to your police agency as required.
- This has proven to be a very successful and common sense way for police agencies to quickly implement the system without having to go through a protracted funding approval process.
3. Transaction Fees for the Hosted Service
- BWI's published rates are $0.50 to $0.75 per pawn, re-pawn, or "buy" transaction reported regardless of the number of items per transaction (transaction fees are not assessed for contract renewals, extensions, claims, sales, interest payments etc.)
- This funding method is only applicable to the Hosted Service.
- Modest fees per transaction reported are assessed and billed directly by BWI to the reporting businesses or to the police/municipal government (whatever is the desired arrangement). There are no other fees or costs for the system.
- If the property dealers are assessed the fees, they can recover the amount by charging their customers a modest fee tor register the transaction on the system (not per item).
- An alternative arrangement is for the municipality, or BWI acting as the billing agent, collecting the fees generated by the various reporting businesses.
- In this funding model, the police agency incurs no costs as the system is paid for by the customers transacting in the reporting businesses.
